The biography of Kate Losse about her time at (early stage) Facebook is in my mind a must read for any software engineer and especially if you’re a man. It gives an extremely good insight view into what happens when young men are suddenly in charge of a ton of money. But more importantly it talks very bluntly about how engineers are treated differently from most other employees for our supposed gift to turn any idea into gold with code.
Technology carries with it all the biases of the people who make it, so simply making the world more technical was not going to save us.
